English

English empowers us to engage with language and literature in ways that enable us to think and act critically and to make sense of our worlds. By expressing ourselves orally, visually and in writing, we develop our creativity, understanding and love of language and texts.

Health and Physical Education

Health and physical education (HPE) empowers us to value and develop skills, attitudes and knowledge that ignite confidence and motivation to make decisions to lead healthy, active and safe lives. Through HPE, we strengthen our sense of self, connectedness and belonging and our confidence to become competent movers in a range of physical activity environments. As we become critical consumers of information and develop resilience, we take responsibility for ourselves and contribute to the wellbeing of those around us, our communities and environments.

French

Languages connect us to people, cultures and places; they shape who we are and allow us to interpret, create and share stories. Languages open our minds to diverse perspectives and ways of interacting, and help us become more respectful and powerful communicators.

Mathematics

Mathematics enriches our lives and expands our horizons as we notice, explore and describe the patterns and connections we see in our world. It enables us to accurately and confidently apply mathematical thinking and working skills to engage with challenges in many contexts. Mathematics empowers us to think critically and make informed decisions which help us thrive in our everyday lives. It helps us innovate, continuously shaping our futures, turning problems into opportunities, and discovering the possibilities of the unknown that will sustain and change our world.

Supporting Our Teachers with a Numeracy Coach

At our school, we are always looking for ways to improve the learning experience for our students, especially in key areas like mathematics. To enhance our approach to teaching math, we’ve introduced a Numeracy Coach who works directly with our teachers in the classroom.

What is a Numeracy Coach?

A Numeracy Coach is a specialist who helps our teachers develop even better ways to teach math. They work alongside teachers during lessons, offering support and new ideas to help explain math concepts, use engaging teaching strategies, and ensure our classrooms are places where every child can thrive.

Why is a Numeracy Coach Important?

  • Supporting Teachers: The coach helps our teachers stay up to date with the latest methods for teaching math, making lessons more fun and easier to understand for students.
  • Better Learning for Students: With the coach’s help, lessons are more focused on what each child needs, ensuring that everyone is supported in building strong math skills.
  • Positive Classroom Environment: The coach also supports teachers in managing the classroom so that students can focus on learning in a calm, well-organized space.
  • Continuous Improvement: Rather than occasional training, our teachers receive ongoing support and feedback from the Numeracy Coach, helping them grow and improve throughout the school year.

By working closely with our teachers, the Numeracy Coach plays a big role in making sure that your child receives high-quality math instruction in a supportive and engaging environment.

We’re excited to have this resource at our school and look forward to seeing the positive impact it has on our students’ learning!

Technologies learning empowers us to understand and generate innovation and manage collective action to create preferred futures.

Science

Scientific thinking and practices empower us to notice, explore and understand our world, fostering an appreciation of the interconnectedness of complex systems. Science unites curiosity with creativity, and enables us to critically engage with evidence, developing as informed citizens who contribute towards a sustainable future.
